Termite management systems in new Tarneit homes

What the builder installed, where the inspection zone is, and how to keep the warranty.

Owner Inspections · Tarneit 3029 · 2026-06-20

In short: Every new Tarneit home has a termite management system, usually a physical barrier at the slab edge and penetrations. It only works if the inspection zone stays clear and it is inspected annually.

What was installed

Most volume builders use a physical barrier at slab penetrations and a slab edge exposure zone, sometimes with a chemical treated zone. The durable notice in the meter box says which.

The inspection zone

The 75 mm of exposed slab edge is the inspection zone. Paving, garden beds, mulch or render over it defeats the system.

Keeping the warranty

Most systems require an annual inspection by a licensed pest inspector. Our building and pest inspection covers it.

What we check

Slab edge exposure all the way around, penetrations, the durable notice, and any bridging by paths, decks or gardens.

Does the pest inspection include the system check?

Yes, on every building and pest inspection of a newer home.
